Parents eager to start toilet training should wait until their child shows readiness signs to ensure success and avoid frustration. Starting too early can lead to delays and issues. It is crucial to assess the child's readiness signals before beginning the process. Follow the link below for more information.
Toilet Training Children with Down Syndrome

Tips when working with adults
✓ Shut the door once you enter the bathroom.
✓ Pull your pants and underwear down and sit on the toilet.
✓ Stay seated and be sure you have completed your bowel movement.
✓ Take 3-4 squares of toilet paper off the roll.
✓ Fold the squares so they cover your fingers.
✓ Reach around and behind your butt, and lean onto the opposite cheek.
✓ Group your 3 fingers tightly together and apply pressure.
✓ Wipe slowly from front to back.
✓ Look to see if there is poop on the toilet paper.
✓ Drop the dirty toilet paper into the toilet.
✓ If there is poop on the toilet paper, get fresh toilet paper and continue wiping.
✓ If there is no more signs of poop, put the toilet paper in the toilet and stand up.
✓ Pull up your underwear and pants.
✓ Flush the toilet.
✓ Wash your hands.
