Understanding What is the OCRA and IHSS Programs
They will provide an overview of the Office of Clients' Rights Advocacy (OCRA) and the In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS) program, the types of services offered, suggestions on the types of information you should collect for the application, how to submit your application, what to expect at the home visit, the next steps, and your right to appeal if you disagree with a decision made.
Presenters:
Wilmary Torres is the Clients’ Rights Advocate and attorney who works with North Los Angeles County Regional Center consumers and their families to advocate for the rights of people with developmental disabilities. Wilmary believes that OCRA’s services ensure that clients and their families receive the necessary services and support.
Fatima Perez is an Assistant Clients' Rights Advocate who also works with consumers and their families at the North Los Angeles County Regional Center, helping consumers with developmental disabilities and their families. She coordinates workshops, provides support and resources, and believes in the importance of OCRA's work for client empowerment.
